Seeds of Impact: The Tithe - The 10th Protects the 90

🌾 Seeds of Impact: The Tithe – The 10th Protects the 90

Scripture Focus: Malachi 3:8–11 (VOICE)

"Will a man rob God? Yet you rob Me. But you say, ‘How have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings..."

💡 A Lesson Learned

One of the greatest revelations I’ve received from this study is this: “The 10th protects the 90.” When I bring the tithe into the storehouse—my church, where I’m spiritually fed—I honor God’s principle. And in return, He promises to bless, increase, and protect the remaining 90%. This is not just stewardship; it’s covenant trust.

(1) The Law of the 10th – A Covenant Principle

The number ten symbolizes testing and divine order. The tithe represents the first and best portion. Deuteronomy 14:22–23 commands the people to tithe the increase of their crops so they will learn to fear the Lord. Tithing teaches reverence and trust and reminds us that God is our ultimate Provider.

(2) The Law of Reciprocity – Sowing and Reaping

Malachi 3:10 invites us to test God and see if He won’t open the windows of heaven. This is the principle of sowing and reaping. Faithful giving brings blessing spiritually, relationally, and materially. Deuteronomy 15, the Year of Release, reveals how God’s generosity flows through His people, creating freedom and provision.

(3) The Law of the Heart – Devotion in Giving

Matthew 6:21 says, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Tithing is more than obedience—it’s a reflection of worship. In Deuteronomy 14:23, God instructed the people to tithe so that they would learn to revere Him. Giving shapes our hearts to be more like His.

🌸 Reflection Questions

• Am I giving out of worship or obligation?

• Where have I seen God multiply or protect my 90%?

• Do I truly trust God to provide through His promises?

• What does my giving say about the condition of my heart?

🙏 Closing Prayer

Lord, thank You for teaching me to trust You with what’s already Yours. Help me to honor the principle of the tithe—not just for the blessings but because I love and revere You. I believe that as I bring the 10th into the storehouse, You will protect and multiply the 90. Help me give with joy, with faith, and with a heart that reflects Your generosity. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
